I looked out the back window sunday afternoon and there was a hawk on the railing of the deck!
I go get the camera and he is still there! I got a picture of him out through the window.
I couldnt figure out why he wasnt flying... when I opened the door the hawk flew to the swingset and kept looking back.. then about that time, FUNDY (my cat) came from under the deck! Then I walked to the edge of the deck and there was a dead pigeon! The hawk had killed the pigeon and then Fundy was trying to get the hawk and/or pigeon!
I got Fundy inside then threw the pigeon up in the field. A few minutes later I looked out & the hawk has dragged the pigeon up near the bird feeders, and was eating it. He has tried to fly away with it, but the pigeon was too big for him. He stayed on he pigeon for about a half hour, then he flew away with it.

that's a cool bird that will save you a fortune in bird feed!
Every morning when I drive to work I stop at a light in Lynn, a big city with a population of about 100,000. there is a flock of pigeons that sleep on a billboard there ( Wyoma Square to locals) and they are woken up by a Coopers Hawk just be sunrise. This week it has happened at the same time I am stopped and I got to see two kills.
Almost makes me look forward to driving to work . . almost. _________________
