What do you guys think I need to spend to get a good birding camera? I see tons of birds and wildlife but my camera doesn't take that great of pictures unless it is close up. I have a 9X zoom with 7.0 megapixels. Any recommendations on brands or types would be helpful. Thanks _________________ Jackie |

I like Canon or Nikon. not to say that other companies don't make good cameras, they do. But Nikon and Canon have been in the camera business forever. Seems to me like they might have an advantage over the others in experience alone. I own one Nikon and three Canons.
Before I can make specific recommendations, two questions.
1. How much are you willing to spend?
2. How much time and effort do you want to dedicate to becoming a good photographer?
Be honest. I think I know enough about the birds and cameras to give you an answer no matter how you answer those two questions. _________________
